Biography


Elaine Sexton is a poet, critic, teacher, and maker. Her fifth collection of poetry, Site Specific: New & Selected, is forthcoming with Grid Books in 2025. Previous books include Drive (Grid,2022), Prospect/Refuge (Sheep Meadow Press, 2015), Causeway (New Issues, 2008), and Sleuth (New Issues, 2003). Her poems, essays, reviews, and work in visual art have appeared in journals including American Poetry Review, Art in America, Poetry, O! the Oprah Magazine, and featured on sites including: Poetry Daily, Verse Daily, Plume, and Wildness (UK). Her iPhotos have been regularly part of group shows at New Yorks lower east side gallery: Carriage Trade. A member of the faculty of the Sarah Lawrence College Writing Institute, she also teaches poetry workshops privately, and is an avid bookmaker and micro-publisher.
